Creative Minds | Giulio Cappellini Interviews Reggy St-Surin About the Tom Chair

In this episode of Creative Minds, Giulio Cappellini speaks with Reggy St-Surin, the designer behind the Tom Chair, about creativity, character, and the design process behind the project. St-Surin explains how he approached the Tom Chair as more than a functional object, imagining a bold and charismatic personality that could evolve into an entire family of products. Drawing inspiration from designers such as Verner Panton and Pierre Paulin, he discusses his attraction to expressive forms, playful design, and striking colors. The conversation explores the role of personality in furniture design, the importance of color and visual impact, and how a single idea can evolve into a broader family of products. Together, Cappellini and St-Surin discuss the thinking behind the Tom Chair and the qualities that give it its distinctive character.
