Green Persimmon Dyeing | The Beautiful Traditional Silk Dyeing Process 🔹 Description: Discover the ancient craft of **Persimmon Dyeing**, a traditional Chinese natural dyeing technique that transforms green persimmons into rich, earthy hues. This video takes you through the entire time-honored process, from fermenting persimmons for a year to creating stunning dyed silk cloth, showcasing the patience and artistry behind this sustainable practice. We start with green persimmons: filter, press overnight, and ferment for a full year to create persimmon lacquer. The process continues with sun-curing raw lacquer, stirring it every 15 minutes until it develops a rich brown color, then layering clear lacquer and gold powder before grinding and polishing. To prepare the dye, we mix persimmon lacquer with water in a 1:2 ratio, then soak silk cloth in alum water before immersing it in the persimmon dye. After drying the cloth in the sun—leveraging persimmons’ natural tannins as color fixatives—we set the color by boiling, filter, and repeat the dyeing process 2-3 times to deepen the shade. Finally, we use turpentine to dilute gold lacquer and apply a float lacquer finish, resulting in silk cloth that carries the warmth of nature and the legacy of traditional craftsmanship.
