My team went international for the first time, to the world's largest "fashion slum," Dhaka, Bangladesh. Your H&M and Zara clothes are stitched here. But the reality is uglier: -The workers stitching these clothes are among the lowest paid in the world. -Workers handle chemicals barefoot for 10-12 hours a day. -About 85% of garment workers come from rural areas, and crowds gather every morning hoping for work. -80-100 billion garments are made every year, and only 1% is recycled. -One piece of T-shirt passes through 30 hands -A child worker earns just 8,000 taka (about ₹6,150) a month. Aur jis nadi ke kinare ye sab log rehte hain, woh aaj biologically dead declare ho chuki hai. One in every 15 people working here is a minor.
