MACK SMITH Behind The Scenes of New York Fashion Week Show | Fall 2026 Collection | THE ORPHAN | BTS

So excited to finally drop this project and share THE ORPHAN COLLECTION during New York Fashion Week! The full collection actually consists of 12 looks and are all created from upcycled denim jeans. THE ORPHAN COLLECTION is a reflection of my journey throughout life as I always felt underestimated and misunderstood. The collection tells the story of the Black Sheep turning into THE G.O.A.T. over time and experiencing these different emotions throughout the journey with each look. In the first few looks, its dark and heavy. I created teardrops made from old pillowcase stuffings in the first look that symbolizes the BLACK SHEEP. The second look is called 'SADNESS' and resembles 'skeleton dress' to represent an emptiness in the beginning in this journey. I created this look from 7 jeans and took several hours to cut each denim strip alone to sew together to create the sculpted dress with the train. The third look is called 'DENIAL' as it was more of a symbolic representation of armor by adding the big sleeves, belts, and pins. The fourth look is 'Anxiety' which is was a denim leotard created from 4 jeans and had several strips of denim going in different directions to symbolize its emotions. The fifth look is 'EGO' which is the mini layered dress I added volume to take up space. This was one of my favorites to design because gathering the fabric was so smooth and turned out different than what the idea I had planned for it was. The last look represents 'THE G.O.A.T.' as it overcomes all these emotions throughout the process both good and bad. The gown was created from 13 denim jeans and was super heavy but so worth it.
