Welcome to our series on Mending Skills - simple step-by-step videos equipping you to mend more of your own clothes and keep your favourites wearable for longer. First up, threading a needle - an important but sometimes tricky first step to get you started on clothing repairs. To mark Reuse and Repair Week, Repair Cafe Northern Ireland has teamed up with Sue Bamford, education officer at Tools for Solidarity and repair cafe volunteer stitcher, to share some mending magic. We'll release one video every day focusing on a different mending technique. Next up, Sue will introduce basic stitches - and when to use them. Repair cafes are pop up community events where skilled volunteers will help you fix your clothes, bikes, household gadgets and more. Find a group and events near you, volunteer or explore more at: www.repaircafeni.org This mending skills series is brought to you by Reuse and Repair Week Northern Ireland 2026, organised by Northern Ireland Resources Network (NIRN) and funded by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (DAERA) via the Carrier Bag Levy. #rrwni26
