Denim and duck canvas are two of the most important fabrics in workwear, but they behave very differently. In this video, I compare denim vs duck canvas and explain why one fabric fades beautifully while the other is usually better for hard jobsite abuse. We’ll look at the history, the weave, the feel, the durability, the break-in process, and where each fabric makes the most sense. Duck canvas uses a plain weave, which makes it tight, tough, and resistant to snags. That’s why you see it in work jackets, chore coats, double-front pants, tents, awnings, and jobsite gear. It can be stiff at first, but it takes abuse extremely well. Denim uses a twill weave, which gives it that diagonal texture and helps it break in softer over time. It is more comfortable for casual wear, fades better, and has that broken-in look that a lot of us love. I also show examples from Carhartt, LC King, and some old denim pieces to explain where each fabric shines. So which is better? For hard work and snag resistance, duck canvas makes a lot of sense. For comfort, fading, and everyday wear, denim is hard to beat. #Workwear #Denim #Carhartt Duck Canvas 1. Snag resistant 2. Wind (and possibly water) proof 3. Maintains its color better since both the warp and weft are dyed. 4. Stiff until broken-in Denim: 1. Softer, but more prone to tears and snags 2. Cool fades (if you're into that kinda thing) 3. Far more colors and variants available 4. Easy to wear casually Timestamps: 0:00 Intro Why I love workwear Denim vs duck canvas The origin of duck canvas The origin of denim The real difference: the weave How duck canvas is woven How denim is woven Duck canvas characteristics Why duck canvas works on jobsites Denim characteristics Why denim fades Carhartt double-front pants Carhartt Quick Duck jacket LC King chore coat Why I love denim Mixing duck canvas and denim Which fabric should you choose?
