Hand sewing stitches and how to use them for your projects. In this video, I talk about different hand sewing stitches and finishes for both woven and knit fabrics. There are stitches that I think are great that I could have mentioned but didn't, such as the catch stitch. I think that's a must know stitch because It's great for mending, for adding lining to jacket and I even finish my binding with it sometimes. The felling stitch, the whip stitch and ladder stitch are stitches that I believe are important to know as well. They can be very useful when it comes to hand sewing. A rolled seam I think is very convenient to achieve a polished seam but I didn't include it in the video since I don't use it often. But it is very cool. 0:00 Intro 0:19 Running Stitch 3:15 Backstitch 4:45 Double Backstitch 6:02 Half double backstitch 6:32 Half Backstitch 8:32 Stem stitch 9:15 Hand Sewing Stretch Stitches 10:33 Hand Sewing lingerie stitch 11:01 3-step zigzag stitch Hand sewn 11:41 Hand Sewn Serger Stitch 12:17 French seam Hand Stitch 12:47 Hemmed Seam finish 13:20 Flat Fell Seam 13:44 Bias Bound Seam finish 14:15 Hong Kong Seam finish 14:47 Self-bound seam finish 15:16 Folded edge finish/Hidden edge 16:14 Decorative edge finishes 16:40 Curved seam finish 17:19 Stretch seam finishes by hand sewing 19:58 Woven Hemlines 20:33 Stretchy hemlines by hand sewing ***Some Stitches not mentioned but useful: - Catch stitch- Great for adding linings to jackets, good mending, hems. - Ladder stitch- Great for closure, closing seams, mending. - Whip stitch- Good for rolled hems, finishing edges, attaching to pieces of fabric together. - Felling stitch- Good for hems, I used it to finish my binding often. - Rolled seam- Great for a quick and polished seam finish ***Hand Sewing Tutorial Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4UT6dNMWXgI&list=PLOPFPpBcZh5rzp4MHpUG_FlLONG2Plcii&pp=gAQB ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
