WASTED: A Global Journey Into Circular Fashion, Repair and Responsible Production What does fashion waste look like when you move past the campaigns, headlines and big promises? In this documentary, Marcus Crook, Co-Founder and Creative Director of HoMie and REBORN by HoMie, travels across nine cities and four continents as part of a Winston Churchill Fellowship to understand how circular fashion works in real life. From Copenhagen’s textile policy work to Portugal’s circular manufacturing systems, Amsterdam’s repair infrastructure, London’s fashion education and technology spaces, New York’s pre-consumer waste systems, Los Angeles’ community-led social enterprise and employment pathways through Homeboy Industries, San Francisco’s demand-led production models and Bangladesh’s responsible manufacturing facilities, this film looks at the people building practical solutions for fashion’s future. WASTED is not a doom-and-gloom film about fashion waste. It is a search for what is already working: repair, reuse, upcycling, remanufacturing, textile recycling, responsible production, circular design, social enterprise and demand-led fashion systems. The key finding is clear: fashion waste does not start at the end of a garment’s life. It starts much earlier, in design, forecasting, sampling, buying and production decisions. The report behind this documentary found that overproduction is the core structural issue behind fashion waste, and that real change depends on people, skills, care, infrastructure, technology and long-term commitment. This is a documentary for anyone interested in circular fashion, sustainable fashion, fashion waste, clothing repair, ethical manufacturing, upcycling, textile recycling, responsible production and the future of the fashion industry.
