Across the textile and fashion industry, the workers who make our clothes are being exploited. To produce clothes on tight deadlines, in large quantities and at low prices, businesses are cutting corners to lower production costs. In this short film, documentary filmmaker André D'Elia and climate journalist Louisa Schneider take a deep dive into the colourful world of fashion in India to find out more about the difference the Fairtrade Textile Standard is making to garment workers. The Good Clothes, Fair Pay campaign referenced to in the film is a grassroots campaign calling for living wage legislation across the garment, textile and footwear sector. The campaign is a European Union citizens’ initiative and signatures submitted must be from those living in an EU member country.
